Golf Skills Academy for Youths in the works

KUCHING: Several organisations here are planning to build a Golf Skills Academy for Youths (Akademi Kemahiran Belia Golf) this year.
They are Youth and Sports Ministry, the Malaysian Golf Association, the Golf Club Management Association Malaysia, the Caddy Association, Persatuan Penguasa Padang golf and the Malaysian Professional Golf Association.
The concept is to provide theoretical and practical training on grooming golf pros, produce golfing experts and attract more youths to the sport.
“The academy will work with the well-equipped Public Service Golf Club in Bukit Kiara,” a statement said yesterday.

Twenty students will be picked for training and they must be Malaysians between 16 and 30 years old.
The training will be over six months (full time) for all levels.
