Battle for golf supremacy tees off on April 27




MIRI: Golf enthusiasts in Miri are in for a special treat as Miri Golf Club (KGM) is all set to host the prestigious 43rd Men and the 24th Ladies Sarawak Amateur Open Golf championships from April 27.
The championships will see a total of 165 participants including 29 lady golfers battling for top honours.
“There are more than 30 single handicappers from Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei, Semenanjung Malaysia and as far as Hong Kong competing in this tournament this year. Among the top men golfers from Miri are Malcom Adam Tay, Jordan Lim, Kunjin Sandhu, while defending champion from Singapore, Jerome Ng will also be participating,” informed KGM Captain Dr Philip Raja .
Philip told The Borneo Post yesterday after leading his organising committee to receive the mock key for a Chevrolet Colorado 2.8AT vehicle as the hole-in-one prize. The vehicle was sponsored by businessman Tan Sri Datuk Jimmy Lau.
He was represented by William W Lau – the Executive Director of JIM LOGS Group of Companies. Among those present was the championship organising chairman Jason Lai.
“The top seven qualifiers of this championship will be selected to participate in the 110th Malaysian Amateur Open held from May 24-27,” said Philip.
